BIOGRAPHY

Matt Condron was born in 1967 in Simi Valley, CA. Moving locales shortly thereafter, most of his childhood, however was spent a stone’s throw from Redondo Beach in Torrance. Growing up enveloped by the warm clime and crystalline light of idyllic southern California in the late 60s/early 70s left an indelible mark on his young psyche that he’s carried forward into adulthood, informing the look, feel and subject matter of his artistic oeuvre to date.

Condron explains that his work is largely autobiographical. That the scenes he seeks out to paint are, by necessity reminiscent of the common, everyday places he spent time in or viewed out of the corner of his eye, growing up. Moreover, it is the design aspects of the interiors, furniture, and industrial pallet in use, typical of those decades, that he finds endlessly captivating… and harder and harder to find.

The artist has exhibited in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, OR, Boston, New York and his work has been published in The Boston Globe Magazine (Critic's Pick, July, 2010), The Artist's Magazine, OTCT Crier, The Artist's Magazine, Riviera Magazine, American Art Collector, and New American Paintings. His work is found in collections throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He currently lives and works in Portland, OR.
